Three-year sponsorship deal for Broome's Festival of the Pearl
- Nine-day festival celebrates Kimberley region's cultural diversity and pearling history
- Celebrating 50th anniversary in 2020
- Supported by State Government, through Tourism WA and Royalties for Regions
- 2018 festival takes place from August 25 to September 2
The West Kimberley's premier cultural celebration, Shinju Matsuri - Festival of the Pearl, has secured State Government sponsorship for another three years until 2021.
The Shinju Matsuri Festival showcases the Kimberley region's rich cultural diversity, unique pearling history, vibrant community and extraordinary natural landscapes.
Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2020, the nine-day festival has continued to grow in popularity, attracting thousands of visitors to Broome each year.
This year's program will feature more than 55 events and activities, including the Sunset Long Table Dinner, Floating Lantern Matsuri, Mud and Saltwater Short Film Fest, Pearl Harvest Yum Cha, Jetty to Jetty storytelling and a range of Aboriginal experiences and tours.
The festival is supported by the State Government through Tourism Western Australia's Regional Events Program.
