Top schools and staff announced as education awards finalists

Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery today announced the State's most outstanding teachers, leaders, school services staff, and schools.

Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery today announced the State's most outstanding teachers, leaders, school services staff, and schools.

The awards acknowledge the inspiring role school staff play in shaping the lives of children in public schools in Western Australia, while recognising their hard work and innovation.

This year, there are two new categories recognising public school leaders - WA Primary Deputy Principal of the Year and WA Secondary Deputy Principal of the Year.

A total of 52 finalists in 13 categories have been recognised across WA - from Dawul Remote Community School 110 kilometres south of Kununurra to Cape Naturaliste College in the South West.

Dawul Remote Community School, Mount Lawley Senior High School and Shenton College have each scored three finalist nods and Baynton West Primary School, Canning Vale College, Girrawheen Senior High School and Waggrakine Primary School have each scored two finalist nods. The full list of finalists is below.

Winners will share in total prize money of $402,500 with a portion to be spent on professional development.

Winners will be announced at a presentation breakfast in Term 4 at Optus Stadium.

The awards are sponsored by BHP, Edith Cowan University, Teachers Mutual Bank, Teachers Health, oOh!media, Fotoworks, Beilby Downing Teal, Perth Energy, K2 Audiovisual and Kurongkurl Katitjin at Edith Cowan University.
