Round five of the Aboriginal Ranger Program now open

The McGowan Government is offering $10 million under the latest round of the Aboriginal Ranger Program.
  • $10 million allocated to a Development Fund of the program
  • Part of $50 million investment over four years by the McGowan Government
  • More than 600 Aboriginal people employed through the program

The McGowan Government is offering $10 million under the latest round of the Aboriginal Ranger Program.

The Development Fund is designed to help Aboriginal organisations start new ranger programs or help existing programs to grow. It will create on-country jobs to preserve the environment as well as traditional knowledge.

This fund will also support and empower Aboriginal organisations to help establish long-term and sustainable ranger programs.

Since its inception in 2017, the program has seen more than 600 Aboriginal people employed, from the South Coast region through to the Kimberley.

Opportunities that have arisen through the program so far include patrols and monitoring of culturally significant sites to weed and fire management on country.

For more information on the program and to see details on the eligibility and application process visit www.dbca.wa.gov.au/aboriginalrangerprogram

Applications will be open from July 1 and close midnight August 26, 2022.
