Hon Daniel Pastorelli

Hon. Daniel Pastorelli is the Western Australian Minister for Mines, Petroleum and Exploration and Water and the Member for Landsdale.

Daniel was appointed to Cabinet in July 2026. In his ministerial role, he is responsible for overseeing Western Australia’s globally significant mining and petroleum industries, helping secure jobs, investment and long-term prosperity for Western Australians.  

He was first elected to State Parliament as the Member for Landsdale in March 2025.

Upon his election, Daniel was appointed Cabinet Secretary and Parliamentary Secretary to Premier Roger Cook.

From the outset Daniel oversaw key reform and election commitments, firstly through fair and equitable legislative changes to Western Australia’s public holiday calendar, balancing the needs of workers, families and businesses.

Daniel was instrumental in the establishment of Perth Park - an iconic sport and entertainment precinct for the wider community - as Chair of the Project Steering Committee.

Daniel brings capability and proven success, with more than 15 years of experience across Opposition and Government in various roles. He played a leadership role in the current State Government as the Chief of Staff to Premier Roger Cook and former Premier Mark McGowan, as well as playing a key role in the management of the COVID-19 pandemic in WA.

Daniel grew up in Perth’s northern suburbs in a hardworking Italian family. His dad was an Italian migrant, arriving in the 1950s and Daniel continues to champion his family's heritage and traditions with his own young family.

Daniel and his wife Carla are raising their two young children in their family home they built in Landsdale.

With a passion for sport, Daniel follows the world game when he can and has been a Fremantle Dockers member for more than 25 years.
