This administrative agreement (the Agreement) is intended to provide a framework for effective communication and cooperation between the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DEMIRS) and the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA) to facilitate the State’s economic, social and environmental objectives.

DEMIRS is responsible for regulating mining, petroleum and geothermal activities occurring in Western Australia under the Mining Act 1978 (WA) (Mining Act) and Petroleum and Geothermal Energy Resources Act 1967 (WA), Petroleum Pipelines Act 1969 (WA) and Petroleum (Submerged Lands) Act 1982 (WA) (together, the Mining/Petroleum Acts).
