Kaya,

It is my pleasure to present the Metropolitan Cemeteries Board Annual Report for 2025–26.

This year has been one of progress, partnership and purposeful planning as we continued to honour our commitment to providing dignified burial, cremation and memorial services for Western Australians. Every day, our cemeteries and memorial parks serve as places of remembrance, reflection and connection, supporting families during some of life's most significant moments while preserving the stories, histories and cultures that shape our community.

During the year, we conducted more than 14,700 funeral services and maintained a customer satisfaction rating of 94.5%, reflecting the dedication and professionalism of our employees and industry partners. At the same time, we continued to invest in our cemeteries, facilities, technology and workforce to ensure we are well positioned to meet the needs of both today's community and future generations.

Our work extended beyond service delivery. We advanced planning for future cemetery capacity across metropolitan Perth, launched our second Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan, strengthened relationships with cultural and faith communities, and delivered projects that celebrate Western Australia's rich and diverse heritage. We also continued to invest in initiatives that support inclusion, environmental stewardship, digital transformation and community wellbeing.

These achievements have only been possible through the collective efforts of our Board members, employees, Funeral Directors, Monumental Masons, community organisations and stakeholders. I sincerely thank them all for their ongoing support, expertise and commitment to our shared purpose.

As we look to the future, we remain focused on balancing the immediate needs of the community with our responsibility to provide sustainable, accessible and respectful places of remembrance for generations to come. I am proud of what we have achieved together this year and confident in the organisation's ability to continue serving the Western Australian community with integrity, compassion and connection.
