Atherid Therapeutics
Show moreAtherid Therapeutics Pty Ltd is a biotech company developing ATH01, a first-in-class biologic designed to remove cholesterol and lipids directly from the arterial wall. It targets established plaque rather than reducing circulating cholesterol.
Lipid-lowering therapies can modestly shrink plaque, but only indirectly, by lowering circulating LDL over months to years. ATH01 is a recombinant protein conjugated to a plaque-targeting small molecule that guides the protein to atherosclerotic plaque in diseased arteries.
Our lead indications are homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, a rare disease with severe unmet need, and peripheral artery disease in people with diabetes. Atherid is completing final preclinical studies and scaling up manufacturing with its CDMO. Next, we will conduct non-human primate toxicology and safety studies to support a first-in-human trial in Australia, within a development program built to meet FDA and EMA requirements.

Inspiring
Show moreInspiring has developed and is commercialising its world first, novel and globally patented Universal Spacer System (USS) medical device, a platform device designed to improve delivery efficiency, dose consistency and safety across inhaled medicines.
Current devices are inefficient, inconsistent and wasteful, with the USS device addressing all of these key issues – increasing drug delivery by up to 5x, consistently across various breathing patterns, and significantly reduces fugitive aerosol that reduces cross contamination and spread of infection risk. In addition to serving the asthma, COPD, CF markets, the Company aims to capitalize on the significant growth of high value inhaled biologics, peptides, vaccines, gene therapy and the like – which opens up global pharmaceutical partnerships to complement the traditional retail model.
Inspiring is currently preparing for its agreed US FDA (and elsewhere) regulatory submission, including the required testing, and will be seeking strategic partners and distributors in the inhaled therapy space to commercialise this significant global opportunity with.

SynGenis
Show moreFounded by Professor Rakesh Veedu, who is a recognised expert in nucleic-acid chemistry, oligonucleotide therapeutics, and drug delivery. Syngenis was established in 2020 to build long-term, domestic capacity in DNA and RNA technologies at a time when Australia relied heavily on offshore suppliers for advanced nucleic-acid manufacturing. Professor Veedu has spent more than two decades working in the DNA and RNA sciences, with a strong focus on translating laboratory research into practical diagnostic and therapeutic applications. His work spans nucleic-acid design, chemical modification and delivery systems, and he has led multiple research programs aimed at moving nucleic-acid technologies closer to real-world medical use.
From its inception, Syngenis was shaped by the involvement of Professor Marvin Caruthers, the inventor of phosphoramidite chemistry, which underpins modern synthetic DNA and RNA manufacturing worldwide. Professor Caruthers served as an inaugural Director, providing foundational guidance on the chemistry, manufacturing principles, and long-term strategic direction of the business.
