The Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety’s (DEMIRS) Resource and Environmental Regulation (RER) Group undertakes a number of compliance functions within key focus areas.
RER’s goal is to provide regular and clear insights into compliance and enforcement activities across the resources sector to inform stakeholders of ongoing efforts to ensure responsible resource development. Key focus areas for 2024–25 include exploration compliance, progressive rehabilitation, achievement of closure outcomes, and the decommissioning of petroleum assets.
