The purpose of this document is to provide guidance on the assessment and Ranking Criteria for applications for exploration permits made under sections 31 and 33 of the Petroleum and Geothermal Energy Resources Act 1967 (PGERA) and sections 21 and 23 of the Petroleum (Submerged Lands) Act 1982 (PSLA), (together, ‘the Acts’).
The changes to the Acts that will be introduced by the Petroleum Legislation Amendment Act 2024 (PLAA), will be incorporated through a further review, ahead of PLAA implementation.
