Two years on, the Distributed Energy Resources (DER) Roadmap progress report has been released, highlighting major achievements throughout 2021-22.
Last updated:

Released in April 2020, the DER Roadmap outlined critical actions to be taken over five years to meet the challenges presented by DER and realise a future with cleaner, more affordable energy.

After 24 months of progress, the implementation of the Roadmap is on track, achieving several highlights including:

  • the release of the Electric Vehicle (EV) Action Plan, outlining 26 priority actions to integrate EVs within Western Australia’s power system;
  • Project Symphony reached it first major milestone with the successful testing of the intelligent systems required to orchestrate and dispatch 200 kilowatts (kW) of energy as a virtual power plant; and
  • The success of the ‘Midday Saver’ time-of-use tariff pilot, with findings to inform development of new customer products which support a high DER future.

Work to implement the rest of the Roadmap is ongoing, with the support of project partners Energy Policy WA, Western Power, Synergy, Horizon Power and the Australian Energy Market Operator.
