The Department of Mines, Petroleum and Exploration (DMPE) is seeking stakeholder feedback on the draft Annual Pipeline Performance Report Guideline (guideline) for pipeline licensees.
The Petroleum Legislation Amendment Act 2024 (PLAA2024), which received Royal Assent on 14 May 2024, amended the State’s three principal petroleum Acts to introduce, amongst other things, two new industries into Western Australia. These industries are greenhouse gas transport and storage, and the exploration and production of regulated substances (natural hydrogen and helium).
The draft subsidiary Mining and Petroleum Regulations Amendment Regulations 2025 establish a requirement for pipeline licensees to submit annual pipeline performance reports to DMPE.
The draft guideline and accompanying templates set out the details and form required in the pipeline performance report.
An information sheet has been developed to assist stakeholders with navigating the guideline and templates.
DMPE will provide a response to each submission received. All submissions will be collectively published and made available to the public in a response to submissions document. Submissions will be published verbatim, with the submitter listed.
The closing date for comments is 30 January 2026.
All written submissions can be sent via email to Rec.Consultation@dmpe.wa.gov.au.
