Capability

Commenced in May 2019 the new Training Area Safety Network (TASNet) system for the Directorate of Operations and Training Area Management (DOTAM) will cover 33 Training Areas (TA) throughout Australia.

Replacing the existing Standard Training Area Range Safety Network (STARSN) across 25 Training Areas and an additional 8 non-STARSN Training Areas TASNet will enhance operational functionality and safety across all TAs.

Design and Deploy Communications Solutions:

  • TASNet is currently deployed to 23 Training Areas with the remaining 10 TAs planned to be deployed and DCert by the end of 2023 covering all States and Territories
  • A total of 98 TASNet sites will cover 33 TAs with 70 currently operational and the remaining planned to be operational by project completion
  • 42 modular transportable Radlink skids will be deployed by the close of 2023

Engineering and Delivery of Green Energy Solutions:

  • Over 1.6MW of genZ LiFePO4 batteries providing backup power with a further 900KW planned by project completion across the remaining 28 sites
  • More than 216KWatts of solar will be deployed once all sites are operational

Installation and Support:

  • 250 vehicle installs will be completed by end of the project; including safety and emergency services assets
  • Around 3200 fixed and mobile radio assets registered on the existing TASNet system with a further 400 assets planned by the end of 2023
  • TASNet has full remote 24/7 monitoring and support
