Invest and Trade WA: Event Support Guidelines

How to apply for funding for events that support the promotion of trade and investment prospects for Western Australia.

The Invest and Trade WA Event Support program provides funding of up to $10,000 for events that support the promotion of trade and investment prospects for WA. Amounts over $10,000 may be awarded if the event is considered a valuable trade and investment opportunity for the state.

The aim is to create a diverse calendar of events, in WA and overseas, to promote WA as a destination of choice for business. It supports strengthening the connections between local and international markets contributing to WA's strong economy.

Local and international stakeholders can apply. You are encouraged to apply if you are hosting an event that supports WA's 8 priority sectors:

  • Energy 
  • Tourism, events and creative industries 
  • International education 
  • Defence industries 
  • Mining and METS 
  • Space industries 
  • Health and medical life sciences 
  • Primary industries

Step 1 - check eligibility

To be eligible:

  • your event must be considered a business event such as an expo, trade show or conference and can be a hybrid, virtual or in-person, and
  • all documentation must be in English and submitted using the application form.

Step 2 - how to apply

Submit your application at least 3 months in advance of your event. 

You must include:

  • a list of dignitaries attending the event
  • an event budget
  • a marketing and communications plan (for funding requests over $10,000)
  • any relevant letters of support (for funding requests over $10,000).

Step 3 - assessment process

After you submit your application, the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation (JTSI) will review the application against the criteria and determine what level of funding, if any, will be provided.

All decisions made throughout the process are at the sole discretion of JTSI.

The assessment and approval process will take about two months.

Successful applicants must sign a Sponsorship Agreement before receiving any form of payment from JTSI.
