Submissions close 12 December 2025.
The Minister for Racing and Gaming, the Hon. Paul Papalia MLA, has approved the release of the Review and Reform of Western Australia’s Gambling Laws consultation paper to invite submissions from industry, businesses and the public on proposed reforms to Western Australia’s gambling legislation.
Western Australia’s gambling laws have not undergone comprehensive reform since the enactment of various statutes between 1954 and 2003. Some of the current legislation dates back more than 70 years.
During this time the social, political, economic, technological and regulatory landscape has changed significantly. This review presents an important opportunity to modernise the framework governing gambling in the State.
The State Government is committed to ensuring that gambling laws remain contemporary, effective, and responsive to community expectations.
Stakeholders, industry participants, community organisations and members of the public are encouraged to provide feedback to help shape the future of gambling regulation.
