Explore three maps highlighting Western Australia’s strategic and critical mineral assets, development activity and downstream processing capability. Mineral classifications follow the Critical Minerals List and Strategic Minerals List published by the Australian Government Department of Industry, Science and Resources.
The individual maps shown include:
- Critical minerals projects: This map shows the distribution of the different critical minerals projects across Western Australia. Projects are symbolised according to their commodity groups and development status of their most advanced mine or deposit. It also features some of the associated critical minerals processing facilities and major transport corridors, along with the location of the Strategic Industrial Areas (SIAs).
- Critical minerals sites and mining tenure: This map shows the location of the mines, deposits, and representative prospects across Western Australia, together with live and pending mining tenure as of September 2026. Only projects that are currently operating or under development stage have been labelled, enabling key production centres to be readily identified.
- Strategic minerals projects: This map shows the distribution of strategic mineral projects across Western Australia. Projects are coloured by commodity and symbolised according to the project’s development stage.
- Supporting maps: These maps show the SIAs, major transport corridors, the petroleum pipeline network, and the basement tectonic geology map of Western Australia.
