Agents who enrol international students at participating education providers in WA can receive funding through this scheme.

International education agents based in Australia and overseas can receive funding through the International Education Agent Incentive Scheme.

It is a Western Australian Government scheme to promote Western Australia (WA) as a global study destination. Under this scheme, agents are rewarded for promoting WA to prospective international students. As an international education agent, to be eligible to receive funding, you must:

  • enrol students in eligible courses provided by participating CRICOS-registered* education providers 
  • be responsible for a student’s first education enrolment in Western Australia.

* 'CRICOS-registered' means a provider who is registered with the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS).

Funding amounts

Eligible international education agents can receive:

You can only receive one payment for each student you enrol. We will pay the education provider, who will then pay you as an extra payment. You will continue to receive your usual commission rates from the participating education provider.

Information about students

You can receive funding for enrolling students who meet all of the criteria.

The scheme applies to international student enrolments from 1 September 2022 to 30 June 2023, or until the $10 million in funding has been exhausted.s. You cannot receive funds for any student who enrolled or started their course before 1 September 2022.

As an international education agent, you can receive funding for enrolling students who meet particular criteria detailed below.

Note: The scheme will not pay funds for students studying non-award or non-accredited courses.

University students

You can receive funding for enrolling an international student who meets all the following criteria. (If you can say 'yes' to all the dot points, you can receive funding.)

The student must:

  • be a confirmed new offshore enrolment, enrolled in an eligible course on or after 1 September 2022
  • have started their studies in person in Western Australia
  • be studying full-time or be an approved part-time student
  • hold an eligible international student visa
  • be able to provide their Unique Student Identifier (USI) number
  • be confirmed as attending past the designated census date (refer to the guidelines below for further information on 2022 and 2023 student intakes)
  • be enrolled in a course for at least one semester in duration.

Higher Education students

You can receive funding for enrolling an international student who meets all the following criteria. (If you can say 'yes' to all the dot points, you can receive funding.)

The student must:

  • be a confirmed new offshore enrolment, enrolled in an eligible course on or after 1 September 2022
  • have started their studies in person in Western Australia
  • be enrolled as a full-time student
  • hold an eligible international student visa
  • be able to provide their Unique Student Identifier (USI) number
  • be confirmed as attending past the census date for the applicable enrolment period
  • be enrolled in a course for at least one semester in duration.

NOTE: The scheme will not pay funds for students studying non-award or non-accredited courses.

VET students

VET means Vocational Education and Training.

You can receive funding for enrolling an international student who meets all the following criteria. (If you can say 'yes' to all the dot points, you can receive funding.)

The student must:

  • be a confirmed new offshore enrolment, enrolled in an eligible course on or after 1 September 2022
  • have started their studies in person in Western Australia
  • be enrolled as a full-time student
  • hold an eligible international student visa
  • be able to provide their Unique Student Identifier (USI) number
  • be confirmed as attending past the census date for the applicable enrolment period
  • be enrolled in a VET Award course of at least one semester (two terms) in duration.

ELICOS students

ELICOS means English Language Intensive Courses for Overseas Students.

You can receive funding for enrolling an international student who meets all the following criteria. (If you can say 'yes' to all the dot points, you can receive funding.)

The student must:

  • be a confirmed new offshore enrolment, enrolled in an eligible course on or after 1 September 2022
  • have started their studies in person in Western Australia
  • be enrolled as a full-time student
  • hold an eligible international student visa
  • be able to provide their Unique Student Identifier (USI) number
  • be enrolled in an ELICOS course with the course-length of:

          - a minimum of 10 weeks completed for the ELICOS Work and Study course

          - a minimum of 6 weeks completed for the ELICOS Pathway course (the student must produce an eligible Confirmation of Enrolment before a pathway enrolment is confirmed)

          - a minimum of 10 weeks completed for all other ELICOS courses.

School students

You can receive funding for enrolling an international student who meets all the following criteria. (If you can say 'yes' to all the dot points, you can receive funding.)

The student must:

  • be a confirmed new offshore enrolment, enrolled in an eligible school on or after 1 September 2022
  • have started their studies in person in Western Australia
  • be a full-time student
  • hold an eligible international student visa
  • be able to provide their Unique Student Identifier (USI) number
  • be enrolled for at least one school semester (two terms) in 2022-23
  • be confirmed as attending past the designated date for the applicable enrolment period.
