Each year the Premier's Science Awards recognise and celebrate the outstanding scientific research and engagement happening in Western Australia.

There will be a People’s Choice Award given to the 2025 Premier's Science Awards finalist receiving the most votes from the general public. 

By voting, you can honour their dedication, inspire future generations and celebrate the remarkable advancements that shape our world. The results of the People’s Choice Award will be announced at the Premier’s Science Awards ceremony.

Please help us recognise the outstanding contributions of these exceptional scientists, students, educators and initiatives pushing the boundaries of knowledge and innovation.

Voting for the People's Choice Award will close at 5:00pm AWST on Monday 10 November 2025.

2025 People’s Choice Award Voting Terms and Conditions

By submitting a vote in the 2025 Premier’s Science Awards: People’s Choice Award participants accept and agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions:

  2. Voting in the 2025 Premier’s Science Awards: People’s Choice Award (2025 People’s Choice Award) is open to anyone who can access and submit the online voting form. Voters do not need to be WA residents to participate.
  3. All applicants and selected finalists for the 2025 Premier’s Science Awards are eligible to vote in the 2025 People’s Choice Award.
  4. Judges of the 2025 Premier’s Science Awards and staff from the Science and Technology Division of the Department of Energy and Economic Diversification (the Department) are not eligible to vote in the 2025 People’s Choice Award.
  5. All Finalists for a 2025 Premier’s Science Award are eligible to receive the 2025 People’s Choice Award. This includes finalists for the Awards of:
    1. Scientist of the Year;
    2. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Scientist of the Year;
    3. Mid-Career Scientist of the Year;
    4. Early Career Scientist of the Year;
    5. Student Scientist of the Year;
    6. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander STEM Student of the Year;
    7. Government Science Project of the Year;
    8. STEM Educator of the Year – Schools (Primary and Secondary);
    9. STEM Educator of the Year – Tertiary (Universities and Registered Training Organisations); and
    10. Science Engagement Initiative of the Year.
  6. You can only vote once in the 2025 People’s Choice Award for one 2025 Premier’s Science Awards Finalist chosen from across all categories. Please read the profiles of all the Finalists before submitting your vote. Multiple votes by the same person or the same email address will be disqualified. Any entries thought to be duplicates will be removed from the results.
  7. Only votes submitted using the online voting form will be accepted.
  8. To cast an eligible vote, the participant is required to provide their full name and email address. The Department collects personal information about entrants for the purpose of verifying votes for 2025 People’s Choice Award. Any disclosure of such information by the Department will be made as required by any applicable laws and in accordance with these terms and conditions, but no further use of this information will be made without prior consent. Participants may opt-in separately to receive further information and updates about the Premier’s Science Awards.
  9. Voting will open at 9:00am AWST Friday 17 October 2025 and will close at 5:00pm AWST on Monday 10 November 2025.
  10. The winner of the 2025 People’s Choice Award will be the 2025 Premier’s Science Awards Finalist who receives the most eligible votes by the end of the voting period.
  11. The winner of the 2025 People’s Choice Award will be announced at an award ceremony on 17 November 2025 and published on the Department’s website.
  12. The announced result of the 2025 People’s Choice Award is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
  13. Any costs associated with accessing information and voting for the 2025 People’s Choice Award and the quality of the internet service is the responsibility of the voter.
  14. The use of any automated software or any other mechanical or electronic means that allows automatic voting is prohibited and any votes cast using these methods will be disqualified.
  15. The Department reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time. Any amendments will be published on the 2025 People’s Choice Award voting webpage.
  16. The Department is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any vote or submission to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the internet or at any website or combination thereof.
  17. The Department, the Crown in right of Western Australia, and the officers, employees and agents of all the preceding do not accept any liability, however arising, including liability for negligence, for any accident, loss, injury or damage arising at any time out of or in connection with the 2025 Premier’s Science Awards or except for any liability that cannot, by law, be excluded.
