About

The Western Australian (WA) Government is seeking industry feedback on the local green steel industry to determine what is required to grow green steel production in the State.

The expression of interest (EOI) will establish a comprehensive understanding on industry goals for local production of green steel along with current expectations regarding government support.

The Government is seeking to inform the future purchase of local manufactured green steel to supply major government projects. The future projects will be extensive and include railways, roads, transmission lines, as well as future hospital building projects.

This initiative will provide an opportunity for WA to add value to its raw iron ore exports and develop a green metals industry with opportunities to access recycled scrap metals.

The open-market EOI has been developed to collect input from businesses seeking to manufacture green steel in WA:

  • future plans for locally manufactured green steel products
  • potential capacity of the industry and timelines for production
  • level of government support sought to facilitate green steel manufacturing in WA

To submit an EOI, please read the guidelines below. Complete the EOI and submit via email to greensteeleoi@jtsi.wa.gov.au by 5pm AWST on Friday 20 March.
