Last updated:

The Early- and Mid-Career Researchers (EMCR) Reference Group has been established to strengthen the voice of emerging research leaders across the State.

The EMCR Reference Group will support the work of the WA Science and Technology Council and contribute to the broader implementation of Western Australia's 10-Year Science and Technology Plan

The group will also give a platform for EMCRs to raise their national and international profile, enhance policy and advocacy engagement, and build peer mentoring and professional networks.

This work will help ensure government policies and programs supporting science and technology are responsive to the needs and priorities of early and mid-career researchers.

Through advice to government and the Chief Scientist, this group will inform relevant councils and committees, identify emerging opportunities, and offer perspectives on selected science and technology initiatives.

Membership of the reference group will comprise of EMCR networks from WA public universities and medical research institutes, co-chaired by Professor Sharath Sriram and an EMCR. This reference group meets 3 times per year.
