Now in its 18th year, the Western Australian Science Hall of Fame recognises exceptional lifelong contributions of leaders who are pre-eminent in their field in the science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM) sector.
This year, Professor Peter Klinken AC FTSE FAHMS CitWA has been inducted to the Western Australian Science Hall of Fame.

Professor Klinken has dedicated his life's work over the past 50 years to the pursuit of scientific and research excellence in Western Australia. He recently completed a 10+ year tenure as WA Chief Scientist where he oversaw and contributed to numerous reviews, strategies and independent reports to Government. Prior to this he was a highly regarded member of the scientific community and a leading medical researcher who contributed to advancing the understanding of leukaemia, cancer and anaemia. He was instrumental in establishing the Western Australian Institute of Medical Research (now the Harry Perkins Institute for Medical Research), securing funding for new infrastructure, overseeing the construction of two state-of-the art research buildings, increasing the number of medical researchers in the State and promoting spin-off companies.
