  • Small businesses
  • Ex-Service Organisations
  • Veteran Service Providers
  • Local Government authorities

What makes a grant application eligible?

Applications are considered eligible if they:

  • Clearly and directly benefit WA Veterans or their families.
  • Involve activities, programs, or initiatives that offer measurable and timely outcomes.
  • Align with at least one of the following supported focus areas:
    • Health & wellbeing services (including financial literacy and homelessness)

    • Skilling and education programs (including recognition of prior learning pathways and micro-credentialling)
    • Service recognition or commemoration initiatives.

There are no strict disqualifying criteria.

How many eligible grants applications can my organisation make?

There is no limit to the number of applications that your organisation can make.

Your organisation remains eligible to apply for an Anzac Day Trust Grant even if you have an active multi-year grant.

How are the Grants assessed?

The Anzac Day Trust Grants are assessed by the Board of Trustees for the Anzac Day Trust. They make assessments against the selection criteria and then shortlist applications which will bring the most benefit and/or positive outcomes for the WA Veterans community. The conclusion of their assessments will see them make recommendations to the Minster for Veterans of the Western Australian Government.

How are the grants awarded?

Once the Minster for Veterans of the Western Australian Government has made a decision on the recipients, a letter of award will be issued to the grant winners indicating agreement to fund the organisation against the application.

Is there a limit to the amount of funding that may be requested?

There is no set limit on the amount of funding that may be requested. Applicants are encouraged to be prudent and align their request with the scale and expected impact of their proposed project. The Trust prioritises projects that demonstrate significant and timely benefits to Western Australian Veterans and their families.

Is a co-contribution from the applicant required?

A co-contribution is not required; however, applications that include a financial contribution from the applicant may be viewed more favourably by the Board of Trustees in their recommendations to the Minister. Co-contributions suggest greater commitment and may enhance the project's viability. There are no recommendations for co-contribution either by figure or percentage.

How are multi-year grants managed?

Multi-year grants are managed in the same manner as a single year grant, except that they must be applied for year on year.

The re-application of a multi-year grant is necessary to allow for performance management against the agreement underlying the grant.

Is funding for multi-year grants automatically approved each year?

No. While multi-year grants may be supported over multiple years, each year’s funding is subject to review and approval by the Anzac Day Trust. Recipients must submit updated grant applications annually and demonstrate progress through performance reporting. Multi-year applications are reviewed during the assessment process, alongside the other applications, to review that progress and compliance.

How are Anzac Day Trust Grants acquitted?

There is an acquittal form which must be completed for all Anzac day trust grants. These are submitted between February and June of each calendar year, whether for single year or multi-year grants.

What documents or attachments may be required with the application?

  • Project outline, timeline
  • Development plans
  • Detailed budget
  • Expenditure plans
  • Photos, brochures and other marketing materials.

Can I save my progress and submit later?

Currently, Smartsheet forms do not support saving progress as a draft. Once you start filling out the form, you must complete and submit it in one session.

It is recommended that if you are unable to complete the application in one sitting, that you select the ‘send me a copy of my responses’ radio button at the end of the form to send yourself the application. You may then resubmit another application and can copy the data from the draft that you submitted earlier.
