International education: Western Australian Premier’s University Scholarship Program

About

The Western Australian Premier’s University Scholarship provides 10 successful students with a one-off $50,000 scholarship towards their course fees and other university costs.

The Scholarship program is for high-performing international students to each of Western Australia’s 5 universities. Scholarships will be awarded to 2 successful international students at each of WA’s 5 universities each year to 2026, providing for a total of 10 scholarships per year.

Prospective, offshore international students must apply directly through their chosen university to receive this scholarship.

Who is eligible

International students must meet the eligibility criteria in the application form on their chosen university’s website.

Applicants must be a new offshore enrolment into an undergraduate or postgraduate course (as specified by their chosen university) at one of Western Australia’s 5 universities. This scholarship is currently open to students who are citizens of the following countries:

  • Bangladesh
  • Bhutan
  • Brazil
  • China
  • Colombia
  • Hong Kong
  • India
  • Indonesia
  • Japan
  • Kenya
  • Malaysia
  • Nepal
  • Oman
  • Republic of Korea (South Korea)
  • Saudi Arabia
  • Singapore
  • South Africa
  • Sri Lanka
  • The Philippines
  • Vietnam
  • Zimbabwe

Eligibility criteria for the Scholarship, including markets, is subject to annual review.

Who is not eligible

Those who are not eligible for the scholarship includes anyone who is not a new offshore international student and is not limited to: 

  • Domestic students 
  • Onshore international students 
  • Students who are not citizens of the listed eligible countries 
  • Students who do not meet other eligibility criteria as set out on the university’s application page 

How to apply

Students must apply through a written application process to be evaluated by their chosen university. This may include assessment of academic records, responses to qualitative questions contained within the application, and supporting documents provided with each application. 

To apply, students will need to visit their prospective university’s application page. These will be made available when applications are open:

Semester 2, 2024 applications for the second round of the Scholarship program are open and close on Friday, 31 May 2024.
