Community Partnership Award – Thriving Futures: redefining regional childcare, BHP and Child Australia
BHP and Child Australia set to improve regional childcare workforce development and access in the Pilbara and Goldfields by supporting educator training, mentoring, and access to housing. Their work resulted in 75 per cent reduction in childcare waitlists in Newman and 52 per cent reduction in Hedland. Additionally, 67 jobs were created along with scholarships and training pathways for local women.
Emerging Partnership Award – West Arunta Access and Community Outcomes, WA1 Resources and Tjamu Tjamu Aboriginal Corporation
The partnership delivered essential track maintenance with local work placements in one of Australia’s most remote communities, creating skills development and building foundations for future Indigenous-led enterprise. This was the first employment program of its kind in Kiwirrkurra with 25 community members engaged in practical track maintenance roles.
Special Commendation – Roebourne Pathways Program, Woodside and One Tree Community Services
This Elder-led program embedded culture and community leadership into early childhood education in Roebourne, supporting children’s development and family engagement in one of Western Australia’s oldest Aboriginal towns. As a result, there has been a 250 per cent increase in Aboriginal early years educators, delivery of Bush Kindy and a language program, and increased childcare enrolments from 27 to 44 children.
