Following changes to some WA Government departments that came into effect on 1 July 2025, the Department of Energy, Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety (DEMIRS) has been renamed Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety (LGIRS) and the Resource and Environmental Regulation function of the former DEMIRS has become the Department of Mines, Petroleum and Exploration (DMPE).
