Sector Strengthening Grants

The WA Government, in partnership with Lotterywest, has launched a new grants program calling for ideas from Aboriginal community–controlled organisations (ACCOs) to improve priority community services.

Not-for-profit ACCOs anywhere in WA can now apply for a share of grants from the $3.4 million Closing the Gap funding, with applications invited from organisations who want to improve, expand or develop initiatives across priority areas that include housing, health, disability, and early childhood care and development sectors.

The sector strengthening grant program will help ACCOs progress towards targets and outcomes in the National Agreement on Closing the Gap.

The grant criteria and guidelines were developed with the input of the Social Services Committee of the Aboriginal Health Council of WA, which is working to develop a WA peak body for the ACCO sector.

Lotterywest will administer the grants program, and work with ACCOs to explore their idea, and if it aligns, work in partnership to develop a strong grant application.

The grants will go towards strengthening the Aboriginal community-controlled sector to deliver high-quality, sustainable services and outcomes for Aboriginal people and communities.
