About the Digital Credentials Project

The Department of Training and Workforce Development (DTWD) is leading the Digital Credentials Project in partnership with WA TAFE colleges. The project gives students secure, verifiable and accessible credentials, and brings a consistent sector-wide approach to issuing, accessing, sharing and verifying academic records.

DTWD is responsible for solution design, API integration and Single Sign-On. Each TAFE college manages ongoing delivery within its own environment.

Digital and paper credentials will run in parallel during the transition, as the sector moves towards digital credentials as the main way qualifications are delivered. Paper credentials will continue to be available on request.

About My eQuals

My eQuals is used by major universities in Australia and New Zealand, and a growing number of TAFEs and other providers. Credentials issued through it are digitally signed by the issuing institution, tamper-evident and legally valid.

For students and graduates

  • Access your official credentials online, anytime.
  • Share them securely by email, secure link or with a registered organisation.
  • Stay in control of who sees your credentials and for how long.
  • Keep your personal email up to date with your college, as that's where your My eQuals notification will go.
  • Please don't register on the My eQuals website before your notification email arrives.

For employers and verifiers

Ask the student or graduate to share their credential with you through My eQuals. You can then check it online straight away. Verification is moving from requests made to colleges to student-controlled sharing.

We recommend accepting credentials shared through My eQuals rather than uncertified PDFs.

For schools and program administrators

Students in Vocational Education and Training Delivered to Secondary Students (VETDSS), apprenticeships, traineeships and the Career Taster Program will be able to access and share their credentials the same way. You may need to update how you request and check student credentials over time.
