WA Workforce Strategy

The State Government is developing WA’s comprehensive Workforce Strategy
Last updated:

The State Government is committed to diversifying the Western Australian economy so that it remains the strongest in the nation.

A thriving and diversifying economy depends on a workforce that can meet new industry demands and seize future opportunities.

To ensure WA has a sustainable pipeline of skilled and productive workers for the State’s priority industries, the State Government is developing a comprehensive workforce strategy.

The WA Workforce Strategy (Strategy) will underpin the State Government’s policy priorities for training and workforce development, helping ensure the State’s workforce is well-positioned to deliver on WA’s economic diversification agenda.

The Strategy will identify the State’s workforce needs and outline short, medium and long-term levers which support the development of a strong, sustainable and future-ready workforce.

The priority industry areas align with the State Government’s Our priorities for Government 2025-2029 roadmap and include the defence industry, clean energy, building and construction, advanced manufacturing, care and tourism and hospitality.

Industry will play a leading role in shaping the Strategy, providing input on the challenges and opportunities that exist in their industry and the levers they believe will have the greatest impact on strengthening their industry’s workforce.
