Electrical licensing renewal
You must renew your licence 90 days before expiry until up to 30 days after expiry. If your licence has been expired for more than 30 days you may be able to restore your licence.
Courtesy renewal reminder notices are sent by email. To ensure you receive reminders, ensure your contact details are up to date.
Online Renewal
You will need:
- Your licence number (shown on your licence or search WA Licence Search).
- Mobile phone number and/or email address on file with the department.
- Visa/Mastercard for fee payment.
Renewal by Post/In Person
Complete relevant application form:
- Electrician or Restricted Electrical Licence renewal
- Electrical Contractor or In-house Installing Work Licence renewal – Individual
- Electrical Contractor or In-house Installing Work Licence renewal – Partnership
- Electrical Contractor or In-house Installing Work Licence renewal – Company

Renewal reminder notices
Show moreCourtesy renewal reminder notices for licences, permits and registrations are sent electronically.
- Three months before expiry, an SMS will be sent to remind you to update your details.
- Two months before expiry, a renewal reminder will be sent to you by email.
- One month before expiry, a reminder is sent by email.
- On expiry, a final email will be sent, advising of any late lodgement processes that may apply.
If you would like to continue to receive courtesy reminders for any licences you hold, then you must provide your mobile phone number and email address and keep these details up to date.
You can update your details:
- online using the Change of Contact Details system; or
- by email to electricallicensing@lgirs.wa.gov.au
You will no longer receive renewal reminders if you do not provide electronic contact details for your licence, permit or registration. You are reminded that it is your responsibility to ensure your licence is current at all times you are performing regulated work.
