The Western Australia Police Force is excited to announce the creation of the Western Australia Police Museum.
Our mission: a museum with purpose
The Western Australia Police Museum strives to preserve, honour and interpret the proud history of policing in Western Australia, ensuring that its stories, people and legacy are remembered for generations to come.
It serves as a living tribute to the men and women who have protected the community, while inspiring future generations to understand and value the role of policing in Western Australia’s story.
Our vision: honouring history
From vehicles, historic artefacts, documents, images and uniforms, the Museum offers an insight into the significant history of the WA Police Force.
These pieces of history tell the story of courage, service, and resilience. Preserving this heritage ensures future generations can understand and appreciate the vital role policing has played in shaping our community.
We are committed to ensuring that the stories and contributions of our officers, past and present, are preserved and honoured for generations to come.
Current display
Part of the WA Police Museum Collection is currently on display at 57 Lincoln Street, Highgate Western Australia. This is the heritage location of the old Highgate Hill Police Station built in 1897 and the Police quarters built in 1906.
Open by appointment only, Tuesdays and Fridays
East Perth Lockup redevelopment
The proposed new Western Australia Police Museum will be located within the historic East Perth Lockup at Police Headquarters, a site with longstanding significance to policing in Western Australia.
A Development Application for the redevelopment of the former East Perth Lockup into a new, fit for purpose Western Australia Police Museum continues to progress.
We look forward to providing updates on the development of the new Museum as they happen.
