Apply to join the Automatic Number Plate Recognition network

Businesses can submit an expression of interest to join the WA Police Force Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) network, which supports police and community safety by helping identify vehicles of interest across Western Australia.
Last updated:

The network uses fixed, mobile and temporary camera capability to detect vehicles linked to matters such as stolen vehicles, arrestable persons, missing or at-risk persons, false plates and other policing priorities.

WA Police works with government agencies, local governments, shopping centres, developers and other external partners to expand ANPR coverage in locations where it can support public safety and crime prevention. Partner sites may assist by hosting cameras, providing infrastructure or communications, or supporting installation costs.

ANPR cameras do not replace police attendance or investigation, but they provide timely information that can assist police decision-making, operational response and intelligence-led policing.

Entry-level ANPR cameras start from approximately $3,000 per camera (excluding installation). Final costs vary depending on site condition and camera specifications. Once installed, there are no ongoing costs to be part of the ANPR network.

External agencies interested in supporting the ANPR network at their cost can submit an expression of interest for WA Police to assess site suitability, operational value and technical requirements:
