The 2021–22 annual report tells our department’s story as we work to achieve our vision of a low-carbon Western Australia together with a healthy environment and secure water resources for future generations.

Our annual report showcases the achievements of our evolving department, reports on our operations, and details our financial statements.

Highlights include:

  • 1.47 billion containers now recovered since the Containers for Change program was introduced in October 2020
  • 54 GL of groundwater will be saved each year under the Gnangara groundwater allocation plan
  • 9 categories of plastic phased out under Stage 1 of the WA Plan for Plastics
  • 12,677 water licences managed across groundwater and surface water resources
  • 298 native vegetation clearing permit applications received
  • 1.2 million tonnes of controlled waste tracked on WA roads
  • $11.3 million in grants to seven projects in round two of the Clean Energy Future Fund.

We continue to support the Waste Authority, Environmental Protection Authority, Keep Australia Beautiful Council and Cockburn Sound Management Council in their key roles.
