The WA Government established a new $80 million fund to support and encourage development of new apartments in metropolitan Perth and worker accommodation in regional areas by removing key barriers to housing development.

The Infrastructure Development Fund will assist developers and landowners by reducing costs associated with the provision of water, sewerage and electricity services to new housing developments, improving the economic feasibility of these projects.

The funding has been equally apportioned between metropolitan and regional areas.

A $40 million for metropolitan area will support medium to high density housing development, promoting urban consolidation, housing diversity and activation around priority infill locations, such as METRONET station precincts.

A further $40 million will be invested in regional areas to address water, wastewater and electricity infrastructure constraints and support the delivery of much needed accommodation for essential workers.
