Australian honours and awards

News story:
Let’s say thanks to our home-grown heroes.
When was the last time you said thank you

The WA Government is encouraging the community to recognise outstanding Western Australians through the national honours and awards programs.

The ‘When was the last time you said thank you?’ campaign aims to encourage more Western Australians to nominate worthy recipients, particularly those role models who serve their community at a grassroots level.

The Australian honours system is managed by the Commonwealth Government and recognises the outstanding achievements and commitment of extraordinary Australians in professional, public and community service.

Nominations from WA are significantly lower compared to other states. Of the 993 Australians most recently recognised, only 77 were from Western Australia.

More information from the 2019 Queen's Birthday Honours List is available on the Government House website.

Nominate an outstanding West Australian.
