October is WA Bike Month – an annual celebration of bike riding that encourages people of all ages and abilities to give bike riding a go! Co-funded by the Department of Transport and the RAC, and administered by WestCycle, Bike Month is also a great opportunity for the community to discover and use the many riding and walking facilities across the State.

The 2023 festivities officially got underway on Sunday 1 October with the Big Bike Month Blast Off event at the Lake Monger Pump Track.

The Road Safety Commission attended the family-friendly event to promote the importance of always wearing a helmet when riding and share simple ways people riding and walking can increase their visibility to make every journey safe.

As eRideables continue to grow in popularity as a more active form of transport, the Commission’s Community Engagement Officers (pictured) shared the rules in place to make every eRide safe and encouraged the safe sharing of space on our footpaths and shared paths this Bike Month and beyond.

To find out more about eRideable rules visit our eRideables page. A range of eRideable safety resources are available on the Road Safety Commission’s Community Connect page.
