Works will soon commence to convert a former serviced apartment complex in East Perth into social and affordable rentals, with Kardan Construction appointed to undertake the first stage of refurbishment.
The East Perth affordable and social housing project will deliver up to 236 residential units, offering one- and two-bedroom configurations to address local demand without competing with the established residential market.
The first stage of works will include furniture removal, electrical reconfiguration, installation of temporary laundry facilities and landscaping. Furniture found to be in good condition will be repurposed for other Housing and Works projects or donated to not-for-profit organisations for use in crisis accommodation and other critical services.
The second stage, comprising structural works, will commence after development approval and a building permit have been granted.
A Community Housing Provider will be appointed through the Community Housing Prequalification Scheme to manage the building and will be responsible for property and tenancy management including tenant selection.
