Vaccination bookings open for 5 to 11 year olds

Children aged 5 to 11 will be eligible to roll up for a COVID-19 vaccine from 10 January 2022, in line with expected vaccine supply from the Federal Government.

Bookings are required for this latest cohort, with parents being able to book their child in for a vaccination at a State-run clinic from 9:00am today (Friday 24 December) via VaccinateWA.

The Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunisation (ATAGI) has recommended a smaller dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine (Comirnaty) for children aged 5 to 11.

The paediatric Pfizer vaccine will be administered in two doses, with the recommended interval between first and second dose being eight weeks.

Children will also be able to get their vaccination in participating GPs and pharmacies across metropolitan and regional WA, parents are encouraged to call their GP clinic directly to make an appointment.

Within the Perth metropolitan area, selected childhood vaccination clinics will commence administering the COVID-19 vaccines in West Perth, Mandurah and Mirrabooka, in addition to a number of existing State-run clinics including Kwinana, Joondalup, Midland, Ellenbrook, Armadale and Claremont.

Across regional WA, the paediatric vaccine will be administered in WA Country Health Service clinics.
