The report marks an important milestone for the department, documenting our first year of operation following the establishment of the Department of Housing and Works (DHW) as part of the 2025 Public Sector reforms. It highlights our work to deliver housing and accommodation services, manage government assets and infrastructure, and support government priorities across the State.
During 2025-26, DHW expanded social and affordable housing opportunities, improved outcomes for vulnerable and Aboriginal people and communities, and strengthened support for essential workers in regional and remote areas through government employee housing initiatives.
DHW also delivered significant health, education and community infrastructure projects that improved access to essential services, generated savings through more efficient accommodation management, and facilitated procurement activities that support the delivery of government services and infrastructure.
The report reflects the significant achievements of the department's inaugural year and the strong foundations established to support future delivery.
