The WA Government has released the Digital Inclusion in WA What We Heard Report to highlight key findings from the Government’s community consultation on a draft Digital Inclusion Blueprint.

We engaged with communities across the State, community service organisations, industry, businesses, libraries, community resource centres and local governments, to better understand challenges related to digital connectivity, affordability, digital skills and design of online services.

We heard from 624 Western Australians and organisations from Albany to Kununurra, including the Cocos (Keeling) Islands, South Hedland, Warburton and Leonora, who told us that:

  • Western Australians experience four main barriers to inclusion – connectivity, affordability, skills and design.
  • Digital inclusion underpins full participation in today’s society.
  • Digital inclusion requires strong collaboration and partnerships with WA communities, the community sector, industry and government.

The What We Heard Report will inform a final Blueprint and a program of initiatives to make Western Australia a more digitally-inclusive State.
