Draft Residential Design Codes open for consultation

The review is exploring opportunities to simplify and modernise the R-Codes, making them easier to understand and apply.

Supporting documents outlining proposed changes to the Residential Design Codes also form part of the information package to help communities, industry, local governments and other stakeholders understand the proposed changes.

Feedback received will be considered and help inform the final amendments to the R-Codes, helping to ensure the changes appropriately respond to the needs of local governments, industry, practitioners and the broader community, while supporting the focus areas of the Review.

Consultation Period

The public comment period will open on Saturday, 24 October 2026 and close at 5pm (AWST), Friday 26 February 2027.
