Three Western Australian businesses have been awarded funding across 5 projects through the Production-Ready and Production Scale-Up Funding Streams of Local Battery Manufacturing Program.
The recipients are:
- Magellan Powertronics Pty Ltd
- Adarsh Investments Pty Ltd
- ProtoLab Manufacturing Pty Ltd.
The projects funded will help grow Western Australia's battery manufacturing sector and support the development of local battery technologies and components. Together, the five projects are valued at $3.4 million, with $1.7 million provided through the program.
These projects support the development and manufacture of battery technologies and components for residential, commercial, industrial and defence applications and include:
- residential energy storage batteries
- community-scale batteries
- inverters
- locally manufactured battery components.
The funding will help businesses:
- develop and test prototypes
- purchase advanced manufacturing equipment
- increase production capacity
- manufacture components that are currently sourced interstate or imported from overseas.
The projects are expected to strengthen Western Australia's battery manufacturing capability and support more resilient local supply chains.
The Local Battery Manufacturing Program is a $50 million initiative that includes grants and low-interest loans to support the manufacture and recycling of batteries and battery components in Western Australia. The program forms part of the Cook Government's Made in WA Plan and supports economic diversification and advanced manufacturing growth.
The program is expected to reopen with new streams shortly.
