The Department of Housing and Works is calling for expressions of interest from investors to deliver 200 additional Government Regional Officer Housing (GROH) properties through its expanded GROH Investor Program.
Thanks to the 2026-2027 State Budget’s $692 million investment into regional housing, the expanded program offers more opportunities for investors to deliver built-to-lease GROH properties as part of the State Government’s Seven Cities vision. The long-term goal is to unlock the next wave of regional economic development and deliver quality infrastructure and services in regional cities across Western Australia.
Under this plan, GROH will partner with investors on new builds to provide much needed housing across Kalgoorlie, Port Hedland, Karratha, Broome, Geraldton, and Albany.
The additional 200 build-to-lease properties are required to meet the projected need for GROH housing by 2030, while increasing the overall supply of regional housing.
The GROH program houses public sector employees, such as teachers, healthcare workers and police, who relocate to live in these areas. The program plays a vital role in ensuring that regional Western Australians have access to critical services and essential State government workers have a place to call home.
The Department of Housing and Works will provide help and feedback to investors on their expression of interest once submitted.
