From September 2026, industrial inspectors at the Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety will be conducting proactive inspections on nail salons, beauty salons and hairdressers/barber shops in the state industrial relations system.

During the campaign inspectors will conduct unannounced inspections at businesses in the Perth Metropolitan area to talk to employers and employees, inspect available records and issue notices requiring the production of records for assessment.

On completion of the campaign, employers will be notified of the findings. Employers will generally be requested to voluntarily rectify any identified breaches of state employment laws to ensure compliance. Where appropriate, enforcement action may also be considered.
