Work is progressing on the METRONET Byford Rail Extension with a business case for the project now finalised and the preferred location of the future Byford Station now confirmed, close to Byford Town Centre.

The Thomas Road level crossing will be replaced with a road-over-rail bridge with works to commence in late-2020, supporting more than 330 jobs.

Options are being considered for other level crossings between Byford and Armadale.

The METRONET street-level Byford Station will be built about 8km south of Armadale Station and will have up to 600 parking bays, a bus interchange and pedestrian crossing over the railway line.

Armadale Station will be expanded and the bus interchange will be modernised with better access to the station.

The Byford Rail Extension will be submitted to Infrastructure Australia for consideration and to help secure Federal Government funding.
