In August 2018 the Minister for Finance announced the appointment of Jodi Cant as the new Director General, Department of Finance.

Cant spent the last 14 years working at Landgate, including two years as the Chief Executive Officer. Under Cant’s leadership, Landgate was named Australia’s Most Innovative Government Agency and the 19th Most Innovative Business by the Australian Financial Review.

As a transformative leader, Cant embraces disruption with a positive and creative outlook. She is an innovator, collaborator and connector with excellent communication skills. Her experience ranges across government, start-up, private and not-for profit sectors.

“I’m passionate about making a difference for community good and commercial gain, knowing I bring a broad range of perspectives to any challenge I face,” Cant said.

Cant holds a Bachelor of Economics from The University of Western Australia, is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and a Fellow of Leadership WA. Cant is also a Board member of PSMA Australia and previously sat on the Boards of PEXA Ltd and Earthmine Australia.

The Minister for Finance, Hon. Ben Wyatt MLA, congratulated Cant on her appointment and recognised her achievements in driving innovation in the public service.

When asked about the future of Finance, Cant responded: “I want to build upon Finance’s strong track record in service delivery by making us even more customer centric, finding smarter ways of delivering services and helping government achieve its objectives.”
