The collaboration with Jade is a result of our strong partnership with Murujuga Aboriginal Corporation (MAC) in delivering the Murujuga Rock Art Strategy and relationships formed through the Pilbara Ranger Network Collaboration Agreement.
MAC represents the Yaburara, who are the Traditional Owners for Murujuga, and the Ngarluma, Mardudhunera, Yindjibarndi and Wong-Goo-Tt-Oo peoples, who come together with Yaburara as the Traditional Custodians for Murujuga today.
Jade worked with our District Manager North West, Adrienne Sanders, to walk through the design, copyright and licensing processes.
“We were both new to the process and learning together,” Adrienne said.
“I love the vibrant colours Jade used in her design, which reflect the beauty of the region – the red dirt contrasting with the blue waters along the coastline.”
Jade’s design, ‘Afternoon walk with the beach stone curlew’, was inspired by her role as a Ranger for MAC, spending time in the Murujuga National Park and observing different bird tracks along the beaches.
“I visited Jade this week to show her the final design on the shirts and she was delighted,” Adrienne said.
“Our staff are also thrilled and have been proudly wearing their shirts to work.”
We are committed to strengthening our relationships with First Nations people and working together with our regional communities to achieve great outcomes.
