Privacy Awareness Week (PAW) is a campaign that highlights the importance of privacy and building trust in how personal information is handled. This year’s theme is “Smart Tech, Smarter Choices – Protecting Yourself in the Age of AI”

The OIC is proud to host its inaugural PAW event on Wednesday 6 May 2026.

This event will bring together public sector professionals for engaging sessions designed to build understanding, capability and collaboration in privacy practice.

This event will be opened by the Hon Dr Tony Buti, Attorney General WA and feature a keynote address from the Information Commissioner, Annelies Moens. This will be followed by a moderated panel discussion with Privacy Deputy Commissioner Nina Skewes and Information Access Deputy Commissioner Patrick Ky.

It will also feature the launch of the OIC’s Privacy Community of Practice and a ‘train the trainer’ session designed for Privacy Officers and PRIS champions.
