Committed to supporting clean energy and economic diversification, the Western Australian (WA) Government is launching a second round of the New Energies Industries Funding Stream as part of the Investment Attraction Fund (IAF).
The IAF was first established in 2022 to encourage new investment opportunities. It aims to drive the creation of local jobs through developing and expanding both new and emerging industries.
“The IAF has been able to support dozens of projects over the past three years and has provided $216.4 million in funds, creating local jobs and helping diversify WA’s economy,” said Premier Roger Cook.
In 2024, the IAF allocated $60 million to 5 projects from the first round of the New Energies Industries Funding Stream.
The first round of the initiative supported clean energy projects across sectors including green iron, carbon capture and storage and downstream processing in both lithium and graphite.
The second round of the New Energies Industries Funding Stream will include further support for major clean energy and renewable energy projects in the following sectors:
- critical minerals;
- green iron and steel;
- renewable hydrogen; and
- carbon capture, utilisation and storage
“The Investment Attraction Fund continues to encourage those in new and emerging industries to grow and flourish right here in WA,” said Premier Cook.
Businesses who are interested in applying for the funding round are encouraged to review the application guidelines and funding stream applicant information.
