Applications for the Investment Attraction Fund New Energies Industries Round 2 Funding Stream closed on 4 November 2025. 

An Addendum to the Investment Attraction Fund Guidelines was issued on 26 September 2025 and an Addendum to the New Energies Industries Funding Stream Round 2 Applicant Information on 16 October 2025. The Guidelines and Applicant Information must be read in conjunction of both Addenda.

About

The Investment Attraction Fund (the fund) seeks to encourages new investment that will create jobs, scale up local businesses, secure investment in the State from international business, and contribute to a more diversified economy. 

The New Energies Industries Funding Stream supports WA’s economic development and the key pillars of diversification and decarbonisation. 

Please read the Investment Attraction Fund (IAF) Guidelines in addition to the applicant information for this Funding Stream (see below) before submitting an application. Other documents to help you prepare your application are provided in the useful resources section below.  


Application process

The Department works to ensure that applications are assessed in a timely manner. The table below provides indicative timeframes for each stage of the application and assessment process. Timeframes may be adjusted should matters arise that impact the amount of time the process takes to finalise.

Eligibility and criteria

Below are eligibility and application criteria for the New Energies Industries Funding Stream. 

Who can apply

To be eligible for consideration, all documentation must be submitted in English and applicants must fulfil the following mandatory criteria:   

  • Be registered or be eligible to register for an Australian Business Number (ABN) 
  • Be a legal entity, with a proven trading history for the past 3 financial years as accepted in their domicile (as a minimum) at the time of the Funding Stream opening for applications. 
  • Eligibility based on demonstrated relevance to the open Funding Stream, or direct invitation to participate. Read the applicant information to learn more. 
  • Submit a business plan which details all relevant Project information as required by the Fund’s merit criteria.

Assessment criteria

Details of the criteria is available in the Investment Attraction Fund Guidelines and in the relevant Funding Stream applicant information (see below). These enable the Panel to evaluate a project’s significance to the State and determine the potential economic impact of the State’s financial contribution.

Tips for applying

  • Read the Fund Guidelines
  • Read the relevant Funding Stream applicant information document
  • As part of the application process, you will be required to accept the standard terms in the template Financial Assistance Agreement. Please ensure that you have familiarised yourself with the template and the standard terms, and have sought independent legal advice as necessary.
  • Check which supporting documentation is required prior to commencing an application.
  • All information and documentation must be supplied in English
  • No applications or documentation will be received by email or any other means other than via the grants portal
  • All decisions are final and made at the State’s absolute discretion 

Key milestones

  • Round Two of the Investment Attraction Fund New Energies Industries Funding Stream is now open for new applications and will close on November 4 at 17:00 AWST.
  • No new applications will be accepted after the closing date.
  • Any queries can be directed to: IAF@jtsi.wa.gov.au.
  • Applicants will receive notification of outcomes throughout the process via the registered email address provided in the submission.  
  • Applicants are encouraged to refer to the WA.gov.au/JTSI and InvestandTrade.wa.gov.au websites for funding announcements
