Spotlight on motorcycle safety

News story
The President of the Motorcycle Riders Association of WA can’t believe he still sees some WA motorcycle riders risk serious life-altering injuries by not wearing the appropriate protective clothing while riding.

“It really does stagger me a bit because I’ve seen some awful, really bad injuries,” said MRA of WA President Dave Wright.

“It doesn’t take a lot of speed to come off, and if you’re wearing shorts or even regular jeans it’s certainly very dangerous.

As part of Motorcycle Safety Week 14-21 April 2019, Mr Wright recommended motorcycle riders visit the MotoCAP website before choosing their riding gear, the world’s first safety rating website for motorcycle protective clothing.

“A lot of the stuff sold in motorcycle shops, you’d assume it would be motorcycle safe but often the sewing is bad and the material low quality,” said Mr Wright.

“The testing MotoCAP do, the regime they have is really good, and I’ve looked at the site many times as I’m looking for a new jacket and I will base my purchase on MotoCAP’s ratings.”
