Welcome to the July TAC Update
With the start of the new financial year, TAC is moving forward to deliver its role as the regulator of WA’s vocational education and training sector.
A large part of this work in the past year has involved helping training organisations prepare and meet the new Registration Standards 2025, including the creation of our online guidance and RTO registry hubs, in addition to a raft of workshops and guidance materials.
This work continues into 2026 and beyond. We were pleased to present the TAC Roadshow across WA, visiting Albany, Geraldton, Kalgoorlie, Broome and Bunbury to help RTOs understand and apply the 2025 Standards. We sincerely thank our stakeholders, auditors, venue hosts and all individuals involved who helped make these events so successful.
In other news, TAC is closely monitoring forthcoming sector developments such as the VET Data Streamlining (VDS) Program. We will keep you informed as this important program progresses and more information becomes available.

This session provides a more in-depth focus on the copyright essentials private RTOs need to successfully create and deliver training in WA, including how to obtain and use crucial copyright licences. Includes a special guest from Copyright Agency. More sessions to come in Term 4.
Renewing your RTO registration? Start early
Is your RTO registration due for renewal in the next six to 12 months? Now is the time to start preparing.
To help ensure there is sufficient time for assessment, RTOs are reminded that renewal applications must be lodged at least four months before the registration expiry date. Applications submitted close to expiry can place the continuity of registration at risk and may not allow adequate time to address any issues identified during assessment.
With the introduction of the 2025 Standards, all renewal applications will be assessed against the new Standards. Early preparation will give your organisation time to review its systems, gather evidence, identify any gaps and implement improvements before lodging.
The TAC has a range of resources available to support RTOs through the renewal process, including:
- Renewal of registration information and application requirements
- Application guides
- Self-assessment tools
- Guidance material to help RTOs prepare evidence against the 2025 Standards.
Don't wait until your registration is nearing expiry. Review the requirements early and begin planning your renewal application well in advance.

Renewal applications must be lodged at least four months before your registration expiry date.
Other Important Updates
TAC-regulated RTOs to be advised of transition arrangements
Registered Training Organisations would be aware of the replacement of the current AVETMISS data standards, a major step forward in reporting and data collection.
For RTOs regulated by TAC, please note that we will notify your organisation when it is required to commence transitioning to the new VET Information Standard.
Until that time, RTOs must continue to report training activity in accordance with the AVETMISS Standard via the current VET activity data submission process.
